Eunice Roena (Trimble) Adkins Coldren
28 Jan 1944 – 7 July 2021
Eunice, AKA, Shortcake was born on January 28th 1944, in rural Ohio to Fred and Evalee Trimble. She endured a lot of pain and heartache. Eunice spent years giving selflessly to a husband, a father, a mother and a 2nd husband whom she nursed through each of their illness’, held their hands until their last breath and buried them all too soon. She suffered many illnesses herself. Many surgeries, many complications. She suffered a heart attack while she was mowing her property and merely stopped, to take a break, drink some water and push through the pain. She never told a soul about it until she was in the hospital having a cancerous kidney removed and a doctor asked her about her “previous heart attack”. There was once a suicide attempt when she was a struggling single mother of three that convinced her there is life beyond this earthly one.
Despite the suffering she endured she managed to see the good in people and the world. She loved deeply, she was strong willed and had a true appreciation for life.
She gave her children each something different. Ultimately, we all took many of the same attributes (Compassion, Kindness, Acceptance, Stubbornness, Forgiveness, Tolerance, and so much more), but some things stand out that she gave us. She left her eldest daughter with the nurturing gene. Thankfully she would give our precious mother the love, and care she would need for many years and through her very last heartbeat. She left her son with the trait of generosity (sometimes to a fault). She once gave a stranger who was riding the rails and camped on her property, a meal and a sleeping bag before she sent him on his way. She gave her youngest daughter her love of animals. There was and never will be an animal that crosses our paths that isn’t shown love and care.
Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were fortunate enough to know her and see her playfulness and love for them. She never hesitated to get down to a child’s level and be present in the moment. She lived to spoil them with her thrift store treasures. She was so proud of each and every one of them and never missed a chance to brag to a stranger about them.
Her tiny body held a mighty soul that eventually became too big for this world on July 7, 2021. Loved and missed from that moment, until we meet again. She must be sitting in the sunshine, sipping some ice water, surrounded by her animals, watching someone else do the hard work for her, for once. 💕
